Printing giant Vistaprint has big plans to invest in logistics and software. Investments of hundreds of millions of dollars should enable orders to be produced at the most efficient locations. The mother company´s name has changed to Cimpress Group. Vistaprint is now a daughter company.
The past few years Vistaprint has grown significantly by acquiring Albumprinter, Pixart Printing People, Print Group and Foto Knudson.
At the moment these are separate companies producing different types of printing. Nederland Albumprinter produces photo products, Vistaprint caters mainly to businesses. With the use of intelligent software the company will design a mass production platform. Magic word is ´ganging´. This basically means that the platform decides which location will have the most efficient workflow and printer, grouping orders around the production process.
