Xerox and Xaar: the inkjet X Factor?

You could call it the X Factor, the cooperation between inkjet printhead manufacturer Xaar and Xerox. The combination between Xaar´s piezoelectric drop-on-demand printheads and Xerox´s experience in the building of production printers could be a winning one. This cooperation will not be exclusive to Xerox, but it will give the company a headstart in the development of the next generation printers. And, looking at Xaar´s experience in markets such as labels, direct-to-shape packaging decoration, ceramic tiles, laminates and outer case codin it is to be expected that these will not be just be paper printers.

According to Xaar CEO Doug Edwards the cooperation fits his vision for 2020 perfectly: “Continued investment in technology and product development, together with strategic partnerships, are key elements of our 2020 vision.”

For Xerox the cooperation means that it will be able to bring the new types of inkjet printers to market much faster and that it does not need to depend on its Impika printer division only.
