Facebook spreads news content via Notify

BB151117 news_notify_facebookFacebook has launched iOS app Notify with which you can receive push notifications about news, sports, weather and other news items.
Facebook´s new Notify app lets you subscribe to news channels after which you receive notifications for news items which are of interest to you. CNN, Fox, BuzzFeed and The Weather Channel are available via Notify.

Notify does not only offer news items. It is also possible to subscribe to Fox Sports, Vevo´s music videos, Fandango´s film trailers and Groupon. Every notification has a link to the article which you can view within the app. You can save articles for future reference and – of course – share on Facebook. The Notify app is not yet available in the Netherlands.

The new app fits into Facebook´s strategy to become a content provider. Recently they launched the Instant Articles feature which allows Facebook users to read articles from participating news sources directly on Facebook without leaving the site.
