Axel Springer´s Bild tests news distribution via Facebook Messenger

Facebook Messanger Bild TickerBild, in Germany, has started testing an important new way of sharing content, or parts of content, via the Facebook Messenger app. The result will give us insight into how apps such as Messenger can play a role in the distribution of news. Facebook users will receive snippets with a link to the complete message. How many readers will actually follow that link is not only dependent on the news and the attractiveness of the snippet, but also on how many Facebook users actually use the Messenger app and if they want to read news. One of the advantages of apps such as Messenger is that the news can be segmented for the individual user. A huge advantage for publisher Bild will be that they will have an enormous amount of big data available from Facebook users. Whether or not Facebook users are happy with that depends on how the publisher handles their data.
An interesting test, also for us at Blokboek.com. We are constantly looking for the best ways to distribute our news, background stories and columns. Via the site, via social media, a daily or weekly newsletter or a combination. We would like to hear your opinion, via a comment in the comment box.
