Expensive print or cheap art?

Granted, Justin Brice Guariglia makes unique prints. The American artist uses a customized printer to print aerial photos on aluminium of polystyrene plates. With more than 100 layers he reaches a saturation of a whopping 900%. But, just like with Rembrandt etchings or Andy Warhol´s prints, you can ask yourself if this is an expensive print or cheap art. The price of Guariglia´s work will depend on the name he can make for himself and not, as with his illustrious predecessors, on the number works he produces and signs.

Technically it is no mean feat to reach such layer thickness with acrylics, which he makes possible by using UV LED curing. With these prints the line between art and technology is even more blurred, just like with 3D printed art.
