Adobe to resolve stepping problems for 3D printing

Adobe Smooth Surface PatentIn the past Adobe resolved the 2D stepping problem for photo imagers with the raster image processors and software such as Illustrator. The company will now resolve the same problem for 3D printers. The problem arises when layering the filaments during fused deposition modeling (FDM). Adobe has found a way to solve this problem and has filed a patent for it. The first 3D printers equipped with this software are expected to be introduced this year. Adobe has more irons in the fire for the 3D growth market, such as the newest version of Photoshop which has been optimized for 3D design.
