drupa Report (3): Print shops ready to invest again

After years of frugality for print shops it seems that in 2017 they want to start investing again. Remarkable that investing in finishing is top priority. Apart from that and because of the continuing automation printers are also interested in investing in prepress/workflow and MIS. Another remarkable thing is that printers are looking into investing in sheet offset more so than in toner based digital presses. The need for inkjet presses is also strongly increasing.

Suppliers
It is hardly surprising that suppliers are also expecting to invest more. They will spend their money on marketing with trade-fairs and product training getting the major share, but online content is also becoming increasingly important.

All this from the 4th drupa Global Trends report 2017. A number of graphic print companies were surveyed: 839 print shops of which 525 from Europe, and 331 suppliers of which 220 from Europe. The complete report is available online for 249€.
