You would think that the holidays are bad for a site such as That is not the case, however. The number of readers who read our messages via social media doubled with ScoopIt and Flipboard on top.
The number of visitors and, even more important, readers who took the time to read the whole article remained the same. More than 50% of readers found us via a search engine, as shown in the graph below.









Best read are not only Christmas related articles such as the trend for more expensive Christmas cards, but also things like Laurel Brunner´s Verdigris blog and longer articles such as Ode to the Barcode.

Make use of this change in reader behaviour
We had noticed the same thing during the holiday period and bank holiday weekends. It makes sense to use these period for your business for content placement or banners.
