Roland DG celebrates its most successful drupa ever

roland drupaIt was a journey of discovery for visitors to the Roland DG booth at drupa 2016, as more delegates than ever before came to explore the exciting new digital print opportunities offered by the world’s number one seller of wide format printers for the durable graphics market*.

Two prestigious EDP-Awards

BB160615 roland edp awardShowcasing the incredible profit-making potential of the very latest in their impressive range of durable wide format eco-solvent, sublimation and UV-LED inkjet print solutions, Roland DG had an exciting start to the show, winning two prestigious EDP Awards for ‘Best wide format print & cut solution’ for the TrueVIS VG Series and ‘Best wide format roll-to-roll printer up to 170 cm’ for the SOLJET EJ-640. Gillian Montanaro, Head of Marketing, Roland DG EMEA: “At Roland DG, we are continuously looking to push the boundaries of what is possible with digital wide format printing. The EDP Awards reflect our commitment to providing the best possible solutions to our customers and demonstrate the award-winning combination of quality, reliability and return on investment that Roland technology delivers. We are absolutely thrilled with the level of interest we have received from drupa delegates. The wide range of applications on show really sparked the imaginations of visitors to the booth. And to speak to so many people who wanted to know more about incorporating wide format digital print into their existing print businesses was particularly inspiring.”

A brand new guide

Celebrating the theme of ‘discovery’, commercial print businesses had the chance to explore some of the considerable benefits of expanding into wide format digital print with a free copy of a brand new guide, “Discover Digital Print Opportunities: A Fast Track Guide For Entrepreneurial Commercial Print Businesses”. Soon available to download from the Roland DG website (www.rolanddg.eu), the guide also includes inspirational real life stories from commercial printers who have already diversified their output by integrating digital print into their business.

The Roland Photo Booth shows of the VersaUV range

Delegates posed for the camera with their prop of choice, all made using Roland technology, and watched as the image was printed in real time with a VersaUV LEF-20 direct to object printer, on to a jigsaw puzzle for them to take away as a personalised memento of their time at the show. Gillian Montanaro: “The response to the VersaUV range – and specifically our latest, largest and fastest model, the LEF-300 – was fantastic. Seeing commercial printers looking to expand into digital customisation and personalisation shows how far the industry has progressed in the past few years, and provides a tremendously bright vision of the future of digital printing.” The VersaUV range direct prints on to a whole range of substrates and objects for the efficient customisation of branded merchandise, industrial goods, product prototypes and much more.

Something for everyone

Another attraction which drew the crowds to the Roland DG booth was a 360-degree virtual tour of Roland’s headquarters and factory in Hamamatsu, Japan. Visitors were instantly transported to the production line to see the newly-launched TrueVIS VG printer/cutter series being built and discover the care and precision that goes into every Roland device.

Those interested in sublimation solutions for soft signage, sportswear, fashion and home décor, were excited by the launch on day one of drupa of brand new fluorescent inks specifically formulated for Roland DG’s Texart XT-640 and RT-640 wide format dye-sublimation printers. The new inks, Fluorescent Pink (FP) and Fluorescent Yellow (FY), can be combined with Roland DG’s Texart process ink colours to produce hundreds of vivid fluorescent hues and greatly expand the possibilities of textile printing for Roland users.

Our aim for drupa

Gillian Montanaro: “Our aim for drupa was to provide existing customers and those who are new to the Roland DG brand with the inspiration, advice and comprehensive range of high-performance digital wide format print technology to help them expand and shape the future of their businesses. We very much look forward to continuing these discussions and building on these relationships in the weeks and months to come.”
