Bubble or the Future?

The US technology company Magic Leap, specialised in augmented reality, has recently collected a record number of 827 million dollars. Although Magic Leap has not brought any product to market nor has shown any operation prototype, the company has been able to acquire 1.4 billion dollars in investments since its inception.

This means that this company has been one of the world´s most successful startups. Magic Leap´s market value has been estimated to be about 3.7 billion dollars worth. Magic Leap is developing glasses with which virtual images can be projected onto the real world, similar to Microsoft Hololens. Contrary to Hololens has Magic Leap not been able to show anything to the public yet. Internet company Alibaba was rumoured to want to invest 200 million dollars in Magic Leap. In 2014 a group of investors led by Google invested 542 million dollars in Magic leap.
